Welcome to our Newsletter

Dear Heroes ES Families,

We’ve had a fantastic start to the 2025–2026 school year! The first week has been filled with excitement, learning, and joyful reunions. Our students have returned with bright smiles and eager minds, and our staff is energized and ready to support them every step of the way.

Classrooms are already buzzing with activity, and it’s clear that this will be a year of growth and success. Thank you for your continued support in making Heroes ES a welcoming and thriving learning environment.

School Advisory Council (SAC)

School Advisory Council (SAC)

You—the parents and partners—play a pivotal role. These committees ensure your voices shape school decisions and strengthen student outcomes. In compliance with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2025, school boards will transition to School Advisory Committees (SACs) starting with the 2025-26 school year.

Our SAC Election Planning Committee will be meeting next week to plan and send out information on how you can nominate someone as a candidate for the SAC Committee for Heroes ES. The SAC is replacing the Camp Lejeune School Board and each school will have a SAC.

What do School Advisory Committees do? They advise on school policies & administrative procedures to include Instructional programs, Allocation of resources, Student standards of conduct, and Base-related topics that impact students. They do not advise on Personnel practices or policies, Compensation, Employee grievances, Internal management of DoDEA, and Fundraising. The SAC is comprised of elected DoDEA Employee(s)- must be full-time or permanent part-time employee at school, parent/Guardian/Sponsor(s)- must have student enrolled in that school, and non-voting members: the principal and Installation Commander or Designee Association Representative. Please stay tuned and consider being a part of this committee. Elections will take place by mid-September.

We are proud of our Heroes and grateful for your partnership. Let’s keep the momentum going and make this school year one to remember!  Please remember to check our Get Involved page for SAC and Volunteer Updates.

This NSPRA award honors outstanding school communication efforts that help connect schools with their communities. This wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of our amazing school webmasters. Thank you for keeping families connected with your hard work and heart!
